It was a very busy time for Leach & Lang Property Consultants in September. We concentrated not only on professional activities, but also ran, rode bikes, played golf and collected funds to help those in need.
We started energetically on September 6th with the Krakow Business Run. We had been preparing for this event since April: most of us trained hard in advance of the event aiming to run for a Personal Best. Others of us had been training a little less, because they are naturally talented. Fifteen Leach & Lang staff and assorted friends appeared on the first Sunday of September on the Market Square to take part in the relay race of 5 x 3.8 km. Amongst nearly 800 teams, our teams finished in 270th, 336th and 629th places respectively. Although these results in themselves were quite satisfying, more important was the result we gained thanks to our hearts and our wallets. Being a part of the so-called ‘Helping more!’ initiative of Kraków Business Run, we were engaged in collecting funds to help fund prosthetic limbs for three beneficiaries of the Run – Peter, Luke and Ania. We are happy that Leach & Lang practically dominated the podium and that the collected funds will be used to help others walk again. Leach & FUN was ranked in 4th place with a total of 2,300 PLN! Leach & RUN took 3rd place, with a total of 2,366 PLN! And Leach and dRUNk got the highest place on the podium, 1st place for collecting 10,249 PLN! We collected just short of 15,000 PLN in total and the whole Krakow Business Run – through entry fees and the share of ‘Helping more!’ – raised over 300,000 PLN for the beneficiaries!

We are very happy that we could have been a part of this project, but … it was just the beginning of September!
At the beginning of September as well, representing Leach & Lang, Tom Leach took part in the Bator Tabor Foundation Charity Golf Tournament in Budapest. The Foundation aims to help children suffering from incurable diseases, through the organization of workshops and camps. More than 1,000 young campers benefit from these events annually. The Pannonia Golf & Country Club hosted a golf tournament and a charity auction during dinner and the collected funds were dedicated for children and their families to make their time outside the hospital enjoyable. Our representative’s team won second place during the tournament with a 1-under-par score of 71 and then participated actively in the successful auction narrowly missing out in the bidding on the main draw – a weekend of golf with Rafa Nadal and Jose Maria Olazabal in Mallorca. The event was a huge success raising over 200,000 EUR for the Bator Tabor Foundation’s needs. These funds will benefit the children, their families and their carers!

As we said at the beginning, September was tiring … Some of us had not yet had time to recover from the Business Run, when on 9th September, Tom Leach started the Le Cure de France cycling race, which led through some of the most beautiful, but also some of the steepest roads in the French Alps. This route included some of the great ascents seen each year in the Tour de France such as Col de la Madeleine, Col de l’Iseran and the notorious hill-climb with 21 bends leading from Le Bourg-d’Oisans up to Alpe d’Huez. The 68 daredevils, including Tom Leach, struggled for 4 days and rode more than 400 km, climbing a total of 14 000 metres and, most importantly, raising more than 350,000 GBP for cancer research at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. Leach & Lang and their staff, clients and friends made a significant contribution to this sum, with Leach & Lang being one of the main sponsors of the entire expedition.

Although it was a great effort, we have decided to participate in the Kraków Business Run, Bator Tabor Golf Tournament and Le Cure de France next year! And we will help even more! The promises of the last year have been kept!
